Considerations Before Seeking a Court Order

Before starting the process of seeking a Retirement Benefit Court Order (RBCO) or Child Support Court Order (CSCO), it's important to consider the following information:

  • Is the participant entitled to a benefit under the TSP?
  • If you're a participant, you can call the ThriftLine at 1-877-968-3778 (or 1-404-233-4400 for international callers) to get your benefit information.
  • All other people can work with the participant or the participant's attorney for participant-specific information. Sometimes it may be necessary to subpoena the information from the plan.
  • The participant can be restricted from retirement plan activity once the TSP Court Order Center receives a draft domestic relations order or court order.
